a couple of months ago i found a dead bumblebee, it looked so beautiful i just couldn't leave it on the sidewalk. i made a photo with my phone and put the bumblebee on instagram. but i couldn't just throw it away, i put him in a matchbox and brought him to het rariteitenkabinet in the hague and had him preserved. today i picked him up, now i need to type his species-information on a piece of paper and place it with him in his little museumcase.

paid a quick visit to the fine store, they sell the scented candles from pommes frites candle co. (best name ever for a scented candle factory!) i just had to sniff them out. i have picked the amber & moss scent. and i treated myself to the kiyoko lipbalm as well. 

in photo number 3 there is box with wonderful tape from zilverblauw inside, i bought it at snorfestival. i like the packaging so much i don't know if i'll ever get the tape out.

in honest, the last photo is tricked, but you allready knew that, right? after the fine store i hopped on over to wauw where i found they sell block letters in different type so you can form your own stamp.

now back to photo number one, the magazine is the second to last one of 101-woonideeën. due to budgetcuts at sanoma 101-woonideeën goes out of print next month after 57 years. i am really proud that this month they published my photo of one of my typewriters. there is also a wonderful look inside the bright house of nelleke, so do pick up a copy!

the story

of a woman who was going to sell a deer.
for weeks i have been piling up stuff in a corner of the livingroom, stuff i was going to sell at the ijhallen fleamarket. tristan figured i was going to take the deer (it is a springbuck by the way) with me to actually sell it and it made him a bit sad saying goodbye to it.
yesterday it stood proudly between all my other stuff. many hands picked it up, examined it, felt the smooth wood but hearing i wanted 10 euro's (7,50 was my lowest price) they all backed down. it surprised me that it didn't sell (had i really overpriced it?) but at one point i remembered tristans' sad face and i decided it wasn't meant to be, it was supposed to stay with me and i took the deer of the stall and put it in my bag.

tristan was really happy seeing the deer coming out of my bag this morning and asked if he could have it in his bedroom, i guess the deer is never going to leave this house again. 

all my other stuff sold pretty well and i really like the atmosphere at the ijhallen. only i didn't leave the stall, afraid of getting tempted to buy stuff. there are so many stalls with great vintage stuff and loads of clothing. 

i was really surprised by ingrid who paid me a visit, so nice to see a familiar face in the crowd!

had a wonderful day at woonbeurs 2014. beautiful furniture vintage and new, lots of danish design look-a-likes, amazing magazine-homes with lot's of fun diy's.

my view of this years woonbeurs: lot's of wood: from pine to walnuttree, plenty of green: cacti & ferns. retro-feel furniture and soft tone colors. industrial lighting and details.

coming friday i will be at the woonbeurs in amsterdam & the next day i have a booth at the biggest fleamarket in the ijhallen again in amsterdam.

i am constantly adding stuff to the pile to sell, i found these little treasures during my rummaging around the house and no i am not going to sell them, sorry.

snorfestival

an all time favorite publisher snor organised a one-day-festival at campside de lievelinge today, a great way to celebrate one of the last days of summer.

  

we had an amazing afternoon, great vibe & happy people. the boys and i had fun with vwfotobus. i met some onlinefriends, shopped at the yvestownfair. finally found the mirror (i had been looking for on fleamarkets in france for a few years) at lammie verkoopt, had a sign made at wood & wool stool, bought tape at zilverblauw (and her lovely assistant for the day enigheid), got a stamp from muswerk and checked the new doll-clothes-collection at mikodesign.
checked out my plant-skills at mooi wat planten doen and informed about why pilea is such a hard plant to find in shops.
walked around the campside, the boys tried some circustricks and got into the theory behind the perfect waterbomb... loved the old vw-campervans and busses that have been turned into campers. 
hopefully snor will make this festival happen again next year.

when the world is on fire one needs to take a deep breath & count one's blessings just to keep the focus on the good things in life.

my men are happy & healthy, so am i. and that's all we need.
